History Society. The Appleton Le Moors Group was formed in 2006 and recently supported by a Grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Group's objective is to create a History Archive readily accessible to all and have regular formal and informal meetings to stimulate interest in the history of the Appleton-le-Moors and its people. |
We are willing to look up information for individuals researching their Family History.

"Many academic works use Appleton le Moors as a good example of a 12th century planned village but do not venture beyond the topography. The aim of this publication is to attempt to recreate a little of the day-to-day life of the residents of the village between its mid-12th Century beginning to the start of the Tudor period; 1150-1485. " The book is on sale at a price of £6.99 plus £ 2.50 p&p. It is 186 pages in length including 10 pages of illustration and 4 pages of Maps. To order a copy call Jim on 01751 417160 or email on honeystone1@hotmail.co.uk Particular thanks must go to The North York Moors National Park for funding the project |
